| With classics such as ‘Ploegsteert‘, ‘Naar De Wuppe‘ and ‘Tid Van Ton‘ and acclaimed and award-winning albums such as ‘Nie Voe Kinders‘, ‘Calais‘ and ‘Skepsels‘, the band around Wannes Cappelle has become an indispensable part of the Belgian music landscape. They recently released their sixth album ‘Het langste jaar‘, created in emotional circumstances. In mid-2022, the news of guitarist/keyboardist Tom Pintens’s incurable illness hit like a bomb. This inspired the band to make an album in the intimacy of their own circle. Pintens donned the hat of producer and took the band into the studio in tow, to give their all one last time together. ‘Het Langste jaar‘ became a musical reflection of the fiercest period in the band’s history. At the same time, it is probably Het Zesde Metaal’s most melodic record, with more room than ever for delicate but extremely efficient arrangements.
