| Let’s show our true colors: since their hit ‘Daggers’, High Hi has been our favourite Belgian indie pop treat. The Antwerp-based band, consisting of Anne-Sophie Ooghe (vocals, guitar), Dieter Beerten (vocals, drums) and Koen Weverbergh (bass), knows better than anyone how to combine experimentation and sharp pop sensibility into concise songs that instantly nestle into your ear. In doing so, the trio draws from their love for dreamy shoegaze and the chrome sounds of the ’80s, combined with their impeccable taste, which they carry through to their music videos, artwork and outfits. Their breakthrough album ‘Firepool’ (2020) produced no fewer than three singles with ‘Daggers’, ‘94A9’ and ‘Alligot’, and its follow-up ‘Return To Dust’ (2022) also delivered an absolute banger with ‘All Cool All Fine’. In January, High Hi released their latest album ‘Noonday Demon’, once again taking a step forward in the career of this ambitious band. Back at Cactusfestival by popular demand! |
