If you feel like you’re living through a constant stream of bad news, then Joshua Idehen is not the person who will try to change your mind. What he can offer, however, is a space where music creates comfort, euphoria, and togetherness. The performances of the UK-born Nigerian artist recharge your emotional battery and take you into the early hours of the nightclub, where the audience seems to become one with the rhythm of the music. In doing so, Joshua Idehen alternates between the roles of poet, entertainer, master of ceremonies, and – at times – guru. A concert becomes a collective experience, where interaction with and among the audience reinforces his message.

Despite the fact that he only released his debut album earlier this year, Idehen is no newcomer. After early experiences in the London poetry circuit, he transitioned into music; first as a dubstep MC with L.V., later as a much sought-after guest vocalist within the London jazz scene around Shabaka Hutchings and as a member of Calabashed alongside Alabaster DePlume. For his first album under his own name, ‘I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try’ (2026), he forms a duo with Swedish producer Ludvig Parment. After years of refining his craft, Joshua Idehen’s writing reaches a new phase. The lyrics are direct and the themes are not always easy. Yet, through the atmospheric club beats of Parment and the hopeful delivery of Idehen, a sense of warmth and compassion prevails.

Because in these grim times, Joshua Idehen has one goal: to use the power of music to bring us all together in one unforgettable moment, where we focus on what unites us instead of letting ourselves be divided, and where the energy of the dancefloor makes you let go of everything. The most wholesome experience of Cactusfestival will be the ceremony of master Joshua Idehen.
