OSEES

us

To thumb his nose at the music industry, American cult hero John Dwyer changes his band’s name at the drop of a hat. At the time of his newly released 28th album ‘ABOMINATION REVEALED AT LAST’ we write OSEES (all caps please!), but earlier names included Oh Sees, Thee Oh Sees, The Oh Sees, OCS, Orinoka Crash Suite and Orange County Sound.

Twenty-eight albums indeed – because since 1997 John Dwyer has been bouncing around like an ADHD-fuelled rubber ball in a garage stacked with boxes of punk, psychedelic rock, manic folk, and spaced-out drones, emerging each time with yet another record.

The main gateway to this magical realm of unhinged guitar music are OSEES’ live shows. Feel free to call them devilish rock’n’roll rituals, with Dwyer leading the dance, guitar wedged under his armpit, to the pumping rhythm of his two drummers, while his band fires a wall of guitar and synth riffs straight at you.

No ceremony for cold fish. And we know from experience: see OSEES once and you’re a fan for life.
