| Nusantara Beat is a six-piece band from Amsterdam that, like fellow countrymen Altın Gün and Yīn Yīn, connects its ethnic roots with a flawless sense of groove that seems to have taken hold of our northern neighbors. For their unique sound, Nusantara Beat gives its own innovative twist to Sunda pop, the Indonesian pop sensation from the 1960s that blends traditional music with Western genres such as psychedelic rock, surf, and funk. The result is a mesmerizing and danceable mix of tropical and mystical sounds, taking audiences on a trip to the land of their ancestors. Nusantara Beat released their first 7” on the global-groove quality label Bongo Joe Records, and for their debut album they signed with Glitterbeat, the label home to artists such as Bombino and Tamikrest. The six musicians were born in or have roots in Indonesia, and the group shares members with bands including Altın Gün and Jungle By Night.
