KING HANNAH

The British band King Hannah, centered around the duo Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle, is one of the hardest-working indie rock acts of the moment. With their debut EP ‘Tell Me Your Mind And I’ll Tell You Mine’ (2020), they immediately made a big impression. King Hannah then went on an almost non-stop tour, refining their sound on follow-up records ‘I’m Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me’ (2022) and last year’s ‘Big Swimmer’.

Hard work pays off, as in just five years, King Hannah has grown into a live sensation—an established name that continues to check off bigger stages. Of course, the fact that the duo makes fantastic music plays no small part in this. Their sound is sultry, brooding, and immersive, instantly commanding attention and at times surprisingly groovy. PJ Harvey and Portishead are never far away, and while Merrick increasingly steps into the spotlight as a frontwoman, Whittle makes his guitar wail and howl like a cross between Neil Young and Thurston Moore.

A few years ago, Merrick and Whittle walked through Minnewaterpark with their booking agent, who promised them on the spot that one day they would play on its stage. Prophetic words!
